The man is Johnny Depp. The name is an introduction in itself. Better renowned for his eccentric & pervert roles, Johnny is the name to reckon with in contemporary cinema. Whether its Jack Sparrow or Willy Wonka, He has handled them all, with ease and perfection. And interestingly the list goes on.
Johnny Christopher Depp’s list of movies started with, A Nightmare on Elm Street, as early as 1984.The man has 40 odd appearances on the big and small screen till date. Johnny made his first impact as soulful character in the big hit Platoon in 1986. His next notable work came in Edward Scissorhands in 1990. Johnny knew the task ahead and chipped in with useful contributions in 21 Jump street , Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape & Benny & Joon.
The year 1997 saw ,Donnie Brasco, a crime thriller from his stature featuring all time great Al Pacino on his side . The same year saw Johnny stepping in with directorial ventures in The Brave. Johnny worked with Marlon Brando depicting Alcoholism & misery of poverty in the flick.
Continuing with his flawless streak in the year 1999 also, Johnny gave power packed performances in Astronaut’s Wife, The Ninth Gate & Sleepy Hollow. Johnny came with two great performances in 2000, Chocolat directed by Lasse Hallstrom and Before Night Falls directed by Julian Schnabel. Both movies being nominated for Oscars vindicated the success of Johnny in versatile roles.
With some average performances in From Hell , The Man who Cried & Blow in 2001 , Johnny appeared in a Documentary named Lost in La Mancha in 2002. In 2003 , Johnny appeared in a Robert Rodriguez directed Once Upon a Time in Mexico. However his best performance till date came in the biggest hit of the year, Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl. Seen in the awe struck role of Jack Sparrow, Johnny was fabulous with his every move in the movie. With Happily Ever After, Secret Window & Finding Neverland under his belt, Johnny continued with some strong action packed performances in 2004.Starring as Sir James Mathew Barrie with Kate Winslet.
He was appreciated for strong performances in The Libertine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. In sequel to his 2003 blockbuster, Johnny again appeared in his sole performance as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest in 2006. Johnny Depp with his unending strides of glorious performances yet again proved his mettle in 2007.Another Sequel to Pirates, his next venture was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End The same year Johnny was back on bang with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
In 2009 he will be appearing in the role of John Dillinger in Public Enemies. Then there is The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Shantaram & The Rum Diary all pegged for release in late 2009 positively. No more upcoming johnny depp movies have been released.
