I'm not really exactly sure how to answer this, but it sounded fun. I'm thirteen, and I don't listen to any of the music some of my peers listen to. Really, I'm stuck on the old stuff I was never around for, like The Who and The Doors. Also, I get annoyed with newer bands.. they always seem like they're brats and want to be the best immediately. I think that's the main reason that I stick to my classic old bands. I agree with you. In my mind, I have certain expectations, and if the music that someone is playing on the radio or wants to play for me on their iPod, sometimes I just reject the music and say, "This really isn't my type of music." On the other hand, my older brother introduced me to a lot of bands that are modern, whom no one has really heard of. I guess it's just what the band plays that makes me decide if I like it or not.
