Alicia Keys Life Story
This article describes the life story of Alicia Keys. Now we don’t encounter some one special everyday. And if the Name Alicia Keys strikes that classical chord with you, you are invited to the entourage described hereon. Born on January 25, 1981, she was a prodigy child. Learning Piano as early as four years old, she featured in “Wizard of Oz” in 1985. And from then, Rest is History.
Alicia was groomed both at home and school by her mother & Lady teacher in music right from the beginning. So when other children were enjoying street games, this child of God was busy rehearsing the Choirs at Professional Performance Arts School in Manhattan. A drop out from Columbia University in Music, Writing & Performing, she set her way early on. The decision was pivotal in shaping R&B soul to a whole new level of entertainment and ambition.
Her talent had the first touch of success when she released ‘Songs in a Minor’ in 1999. The songs were an instant hit and she was hitting the top of the charts by chilly winters of 99.Now if one ponders what makes her grand some, it won’t be a job of an expert. Her versatility, of being a songwriter, an expert in classical piano or symphonizing the great work of vocal chords, she has got it all in her kitty. The adage goes as this: You name it and she has got it.
Alicia is fond of playing guitar and admits to being a great fan of Jimmy Hendrix. Personally she loves Swimming. Her personal contributions to the society have added much ado to her superstar status. She is a staunch supporter of Campaign against AIDS and has taken an initiative that involves staging an MTV concert targeting one billion people in 2003. She is a part of road shows to increase awareness about the suffering of millions in Africa.
Recently she has been engulfed in some controversies. She appeared in Vanity Fair’s Cover page along with Jenifer Lopez drawing flak for all-out diva warfare strategies. To her accomplishments, she is voted as one of the breakthrough stars of 2001 by People’s Magazine. Then by the same Magazine, she is counted among the top 50 most beautiful women of her times.
Lately some doubts have been casted on her originality in work. For where there is a fire, there is bound to be a smoke .So is the case with Alicia .However, She has been seen quoting “I was born in Hell’s Kitchen and spent a lot of time in Harlem and was exposed to a lot of different types of music, from Biggie to Nirvana to Miles Davis to Nina Simone and back to classical. I think it was inevitable that I would merge all of them in what I do now. Aretha Franklin and James Brown had real things to talk about and feel in their hearts and that’s the kind of music that flows through me.” This proves beyond doubt that the Lady is formed through the fusion of music flowing all around New York since 80’s and late.
This half Jamaican , Half Irish-Italian woman , who draws her inspiration from the likes of Hopin, Marvin Gaye, Mary J. Blige, Miles Davis, The Notorious B.I.G., Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Beethoven has a long way to go before she calls it a day.
We wonder is Sky really the limit?
